NTPC Coal Mining projects boosting coal production to meet the coal demand, contributing to ECR reduction for affordable power”
Ranchi. The 72nd Republic Day was celebrated at NTPC Coal Mining Headquarters, Ranchi on 26 January with great pride and patriotism. Chief Guest of the event, Shri Sariputta Mishra, Head of Mining (HOM), Coal Mining Headquarter unfurled National flag.
Shri Misra took the guard of honour on this auspicious day and made a call to remember the contributions of freedom fighters. He stated that on this very day, the Constitution of India came into force. Speaking on NTPC, he stated that “India’s largest power generating company, NTPC is playing an important role in the development of the country. Its performance during the COVID pandemic is praiseworthy.
At present NTPC has a total installed capacity of 63785 MW. NTPC group has over 20 GW of capacity under construction, including 5 GW of renewable energy projects.
“NTPC Group generated its highest ever day gross generation of 1009 Million Units on 18th January 2021. The achievement reinforces the group’s commitment towards excellence in operation across its power stations. The power sector is under reforms, as the sector is undergoing major changes in renewable power i.e solar etc.” said Shri Mishra
As part of thermal generation business,NTPC Coal Mining is playing a significant role in the power generation growth of the company, its captive coal mining project, Pakri Barwadih has registered 20% growth compared to last year till date despite setbacks due to COVID pandemic and agitation for Land payment and R&R issues. The project is geared to roll out its coal despatch through the conveyor belt system in compliance with NGT guidelines stated.
Efforts were taken by NTPC Management in last few months with effective deliberation with Govt. and regular dialogue with various stakeholders have opened up a new arena in the coal mining business portfolio.
NTPC Coal Mining Headquarters has played a pivot role in COD (Commercial Operation Date )actualisation of NTPC Dulanga Mines ,Odisha w.e.f October 1,2020 and COD of Talaipalli Coal Mining Project in Chattisgarh is expected soon which is a great satisfaction to NTPC Coal Mining Team.
Coal Mining projects of NTPC are instrumentals to meet the Coal requirements and dedicated to uninterrupted supply of coal to its thermal stations, resulting in a decrease in ECR (Energy Charge Rate), it is further contributing to the reduction of cost of generation and significant in providing economic power.
Shri Mishra, appreciated various contributions rendered by various departments like Finance, C&M, HR, IT to meet the deadlines even during tough working conditions on the occasion.HODs , employees, contractual employees, and security personnel have participated in the program following COVID guidelines.
